Get still and read more books!
I created a list of my Top 10 Books for Creating Spiritual Shifts a couple weeks ago, and as soon as I started putting it together, I realized I needed to add at least 100 more books. That would be an irritatingly long and annoying list, so I’m going to give new lists to you just a few books at a time.
This new list of 9 MORE Books for Creating Spiritual (Money, Relationship, and Happiness) Shifts is different from my last, because it’s made up of new classics—a mix of genres (not just non-fiction), with bits of whimsy thrown in.
And just like in my first list, I included audio versions where available. I also stuck in some Kindle buttons for my friends on-the-go and/or on-a-budget.
Cheers to enlightenment (and fun)!
Take a look at the list, pick up a few for you and your friends (I included amazing stocking-stuffers and friend gifts), and spread the love by sharing this post on social media by copying the URL or clicking this message to share on Twitter:
I’m presenting this list in no particular order. I did, however, put my current favorite butt-kicking personal development books in the 1 and 2 spots. Following those are my go-to money books, my fave fiction pick of the moment, and three fantastic journal/workbook/fun picks. Number 9 is the gift that EVERYONE is getting this holiday season (and probably before, because I can’t wait).
1. Maybe It’s You by Lauren Handel Zander
I was gifted my copy of this book by none other than the esteemed writer herself, Lauren Handel Zander. We met at an intimate dinner, where I sat next to her (and where she gave me some of the best life advice I’ve ever received). Lauren can basically see deep into your soul and tell you how to correct all the things that are holding you back… because you have all the things you need to succeed. I love, love, love doing the work in this book. Do something lovely and powerful for yourself—get it NOW.
From Amazon.com: “In Maybe It’s You, life coach Lauren Handel Zander walks readers through the innovative step-by-step process that has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of her clients, and explains how anyone can achieve amazing things when we stop lying and finally start keeping the promises we make to ourselves. Whether readers want to find love, succeed at work, fix a fractured relationship, or lose weight, Zander’s method will offer a road map to finally get there. Filled with practical exercises, inspiring client stories, and Lauren’s own hard-won lessons, this book enables readers to identify, articulate, and account for their own setbacks so they can transform them into strengths.”
2. The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday
Daily Practice Alert: I keep this book on my desk and refer to it every day. The simplicity of the Stoics’ wisdom keeps me grounded and allows me to smile in all circumstances. This might be my favorite daily practice yet!
From BarnesandNoble.com: “The Daily Stoic offers 366 days of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations from the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the playwright Seneca, or slave-turned-philosopher Epictetus, as well as lesser-known luminaries like Zeno, Cleanthes, and Musonius Rufus […] By following these teachings over the course of a year (and, indeed, for years to come) you’ll find the serenity, self-knowledge, and resilience you need to live well. ”

3. Overcoming Underearning by Barbara Stanny
“Underearners are self-saboteurs who don’t live up to their earnings potential, says Barbara Stanny, a financial educator, motivational speaker, and career counselor. Whether they make $10 an hour or six figures a year, they tend to live paycheck to paycheck, are often in debt, and have a high tolerance for low pay. Ironically, many work incredibly hard. The good news is that underearning is a self-imposed condition. By focusing on overcoming it, underearners will not only earn what they deserve, but live a richer life. With techniques and exercises that have helped thousands of people, Stanny teaches five essential steps to financial independence and brings a message of empowerment to all those who chronically undervalue themselves. ” – Amazon.com
4. Money: A Love Story by Kate Northrup
“Kate Northrup’s book, Money: A Love Story, is a kind and rollicking guide to getting your finances on track. It’s full of inspiring stories—including Kate’s own of getting into and out of $20,000 of debt—and 29 eye- and heart-opening exercises. The book takes a fun, understanding, and proven approach to creating true financial freedom. You won’t find any shame, blame, or finger-wagging here. Just tons of relatable moments and simple guidance to living out your own money love story.” – EventualMillionaire.com

5. Rebirth by Kamal Ravikant
“Inspired by the author’s own pilgrimage of walking the legendary Camino de Santiago across Spain comes Rebirth, a novel of reconciliation and forgiveness. After losing his estranged father, Amit wanders across Europe and embarks on the five-hundred and fifty mile Camino de Santiago to reconcile his inner conflict. It is on this path that he begins reflecting on relationships and forgiveness, to find answers we all seek. As Amit runs from his life, it soon becomes clear that it’s impossible to run from himself. It is a universal pilgrimage, and a teaching-tale about love, forgiveness, and facing our fears. Told in the traditions of Paulo Coelho and Mitch Albom, the story gets to the heart of some of life’s most enlightening lessons about family, devotion, and ambition.” – Goodreads.com
6. Buddha Doodles Gratitude Journal by Molly Hahn
Daily Practice Alert: Molly is the woman who inspired my daily gratitude practice and my hand-drawn Bliss Notes. We met through Marie Forleo’s B-School program, and we’ve been friends ever since. This is the third edition of her journal series (I have them all!) and a thoughtful and special gift for everyone you know. And if you peek through the pages, you might find a cameo appearance from me!
From Amazon.com: “Put positivity into practice! A few of the many benefits of a gratitude practice include feeling happier, less stress, better sleep, and a reduction in negative emotions. Each page has a different Buddha Doodle with space to write what you’re grateful for!”
7. 642 Stories to Write by The San Francisco Writers’ Grotto and Jason Roberts
Daily Practice Alert: I am IN LOVE with this writing journal. This is my first attempt at creative writing since college, and I’m hooked. I use the prompts every day to delve deep into my imagination and inspire me to write (with a real pencil, on real paper) again.

“A rolling pin, a robot, a pickle, a water tower, a hammock, a wasp, a safety pin, a kiss. Budding artists and experienced sketchers alike will find themselves invigorated by this collection of offbeat, clever, and endlessly absorbing drawing prompts. Some are deceptively simple (just try drawing a bicycle!), some are conceptually mind-bending (sketching the sound of girlish laughter?), and some are refreshingly basic (the only hard thing about drawing an egg is deciding how you want it to be cooked). Hip and helpful, 642 Things to Draw is the perfect inspirational sketchbook, sure to entertain and provoke the imagination of anyone ready to pick up a pencil.” – Amazon.com
