It’s Monday, and I just spent the most glorious weekend with friends and family.
I celebrated a big win in Atlantic City by one of my nutrition team members who’s a pro MMA fighter, I witnessed two other friends become husband and wife, and we rescued two ducks, Bill and Ted.
I’m filled with joy this morning.
But it’s easy to feel joy when things are going “right” or when I’m surrounded by people you love and who share the same values and opinions as I do.
The challenge lies in finding joy in the times when the future seems unpredictable, when people aren’t showing up as I’d like, or when I don’t feel like I’m in control of what’s happening (or could happen) to me.
I’m going to be honest with you—I’ve been feeling challenged a LOT lately.
The political climate is scary, and personal relationships have been triggering me to feel ways I don’t want to feel.
I’m going to tell you a quick story, and then I want you to watch a video of a Periscope live broadcast I made last week…
My 12-year-old had a school concert the other night (he plays the saxophone).
Sitting in front of Justin (my husband) and me was my ex-husband.
I feel safe in telling you that we have not been on the best terms lately.
My body tenses and I feel a heaviness whenever he’s around. It’s been years since our divorce, and I’m still intimidated by him and his anger toward me.
This tension was getting in the way of me enjoying the concert, so I made a conscious decision…
I asked myself, “What is your participation in this tension? How can you embrace him with love while keeping him at a distance? How can you change the vibration of this space?”
And then I told myself:
“I love and accept myself as I am. I love and accept him as he is. I will practice my “and” in this moment—I can see the divinity in him AND not like him very much in this life. I can hold him in love AND keep him at a distance.”
This example was about a personal relationship, but you can practice this in any situation.
Can you accept things as they are even if you don’t like the circumstances?
Can you see your participation in collective consciousness and allow yourself to create a shift?
Another guy in my life who’s been bugging the hell out of me is Donald Trump. Maybe he bugs you, too.
I’m not going to get into politics… today. But I do want to share with you how I was able to send love to Donald—sincerely—in a way that heals me and the space I occupy.
This video is about you, me, Donald, and volcanos… and more about how we can change the world by raising our consciousness with three simple words: BE GOOD LAVA
