“Eat food, mostly plants, not too much.” – Michael Pollan
This is my absolute favorite quote about what it really takes to be healthy. It’s a no-brainer. Eat real food, not processed junk. Eat foods made from plants, not in plants. Eat until you’re satisfied, not stuffed. This advice is as uncomplicated as it gets – the perfect diet mantra.
Even though I follow these rules, there are times (especially when I’m busy) that my eating habits fall short of ideal. I don’t sweat it too much when that happens, and I definitely don’t obsess about having a perfect diet, but I am always looking for new ways to be healthier – naturally and without unnecessary chemicals or toxins.
Hemp for Your Health
You’ve probably heard a lot about the many practical uses and benefits of hemp. Popularly known as a “wonder” crop, hemp can be sustainably farmed and used for tons of purposes from clothing and fuel to a wide array of consumer products.
Hemp also has amazing nutritional qualities, and taking hemp oil as a daily supplement is an all-natural way to increase general wellness. Hemp oil contains Cannabidiol (CBD) which has been shown to be anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, neurologically protective, and pain relieving. And while it’s important to note that more research is needed, the US government has a patent on cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants.
(Click here for more details on the patent.)
Not to be confused with medical marijuana, hemp oil is not intoxicating. It is derived from hemp, not marijuana, medical or otherwise. Hemp oil is completely legal and safe for over-the-counter use. It is also not to be used as a treatment for a medical condition, but instead as a way to enhance an already healthy lifestyle of clean eating and regular exercise.
How I Use Hemp Oil for General Wellness
CW Botanicals has an incredible product under their premium Charlotte’s Web™ brand that I have been using as a daily nutritional supplement. This mint chocolate flavored hemp oil in MCT oil (Medium Chain Triglycerides – known for helping with brain function and boosting metabolism) comes in a convenient 1 oz bottle that’s convenient for me to carry everywhere. I never forget to take it with my meals, at home or on the road. And the delicious flavor reminds me of my favorite dessert, mint chocolate chip ice cream. It’s like a little way to treat myself throughout the day. My other favorite mantra? “Treat yourself.“
I’m a big believer in not bringing treats to the party without sharing, so I’m sharing a very special treat with you.
