We’re back to work (or school), all the holiday cookies and have long been eaten, and all that may be left of your holiday season is a dead tree in your living room and a nagging list of resolutions that you’re already struggling to keep. It’s OK. You are not alone.
I took one half of an online yoga class and declared the next 5 days “rest” days. Then I got behind on laundry, everyone in my house caught colds, and my aunt who I didn’t get to see at Christmas brought over three giant containers of homemade cookies.
Resolutions, who?
Don’t despair, my beautiful friends. All that is lost is not completely and hopelessly lost. I promise. This happens to me every year…
So I put together 3 Tips for Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions, and I swear they’re going to keep you on track… probably. Yes! Yes, they are!

Don’t be afraid to make resolutions. There’s a new trend of replacing “resolution” with other words that sound less committal. What are you afraid of? Lowering your expectations for yourself isn’t kind or forgiving. It’s resolution sabotage, and it only shows a lack of faith in your potential. Commit to making the commitment! It’s not the end of the world if you slip up, and dreaming small only leads to achieving small.
Your mantra: “I’m shooting for the moon. If I miss, I’ll still land among the stars.”
Spend time in quiet contemplation every day. It’s called meditation, and if you’re not doing it, you’re missing out on a major success-building tool. Meditation not only allows you to focus more clearly on both your immediate and long-term goals, but it’s also a huge stress reliever that helps to protect you from the chaos of daily life. Go to BexLife.com/21mantras for a tutorial on how to create your own meditation for manifesting.
Your mantra: “I have to check myself before I wreck myself.”
Fill your peanut gallery with Jiminy Crickets. We’re all good at giving up when no one is looking. If nobody sees, it didn’t happen – right? This why it’s important to shout your resolutions from the rooftops. Tell your family, your friends, your pretend friends, your Instagram feed… Tell everyone you know about your big plans to do and be better. People will be happy to cheer you on (and call you out when you start to slip), and that will keep you on track.
Your mantra: “I am loved and fully supported in my efforts. I have everything I need to be successful.” [Click to Tweet]
