Greetings, Brave Friends!
Wait a minute. Are some of you not feeling brave today? That’s funny, because I just called you brave and that’s exactly how it works. I say that you’re something – brave, funny, stupid, ugly, beautiful, kind, selfish – and you automatically become that.
That’s not how it works? I’ve been wasting SO MUCH TIME!

I’m not exactly positive about which month and year it was, but it was probably ten or more years ago. I was in the passenger seat and my (now ex) husband was driving our car down the NJ Turnpike.
As usual, I was singing along with the radio.
I love to sing. I loved to sing out loud in front of everyone.
The name of the song I was singing has faded from memory, but what I’ll never forget is when he turned to me and said, “Do you ever sing in key?”
It was a simple question – six little words – that cut through my heart and straight to the core of my spirit. I had never been judged or critiqued on this thing I loved to do so much. It was always something I did for fun and something that made me feel so free and expressive.
And it took at least 5 years before I sang in front of anyone again.
Only my husband, Mr. Borucki, and my kids get to hear me sing now. Even though I teach all of you that the only one that can make you feel anything about yourself is you (heck, I made a whole meditation video about it), I still experience a tiny pang of doubt every time I open my mouth to sing a tune.
Now is the time to stop living my fear and start speaking my truth! Oh by the way, it’s that time for you, too.
I invited my friend Grace Smith to my home last weekend, and she did a session with me to help me become the singer I was meant to be. Yes, I was absolutely born to sing.
Another miracle happened during this session that I wasn’t expecting at all. There’s a point that Grace asks me to imagine an audience filled with all the people who love me unconditionally.
I’ve been struggling a lot with certain family relationships lately, and this was a hard thing for me to visualize. Then suddenly, something amazing happened. I saw Mr. Borucki sitting in the front row, wearing a huge smile. I felt myself smiling and growing warmer. As I looked over the empty chairs in the auditorium, something even stranger happened. All of the seats started to be populated with more of him – all looking at me with giant grins. Then, at last, my Aunt Kathy walked in and took a seat next to him.
When I woke up, I told this to Grace, and I could see tears welling up in my husband’s eyes from where he was sitting behind the camera.
As empty as my heart feels sometimes because I don’t feel loved by important people in my life, his love can fill all that space. I had confirmation from my subconscious that I feel truly loved by him, and my heart has found its forever home – it’s not just wishful thinking.
I know so many of you have had similar experience with bullies and spirit crushers in your lives, and I want to hear all about them. I also want to hear about your victories if you’ve broken free from self-doubt.

UPDATE: Since writing this, I’ve been singing all over the place – even in public!
