I thought about doing a bunch of research to find scientifically proven facts that support the statement that working out with your partner has all kinds of special benefits, but I’m too tired to deal with homework. This weekend is all about kicking back with Mr. Borucki, and I REFUSE to put in any real work effort (except for editing some video, tweeting a few dozen motivational messages, writing this blog and blocking a few pervy commenters from my YouTube channel — the latter taking up the MOST time).
So instead of a bunch of science blah-blah-blah, I’m collaborating with my partner-in-life (and baby-makin’) to bring you our own personal “TOP 5 BENEFITS OF WORKING OUT WITH YOUR PARTNER” (which does not include anything about making your partner or yourself skinnier).
I was so proud of him after this trail run last year
Brace yourselves. We’re about to drop some sexy knowledge on you.
Justin and I spend a LOT of time together. We both work primarily from home, and we each help the other run our businesses (he’s the one focusing my camera for me before I yell at him to take off and keep the baby quiet, and he even appears in a workout or yoga video from time to time). Nine days out of ten, we’re together for the whole twenty-four hour stretch. When I travel for work, he’s with me. When he needs some extra production help on a shoot, I’m there. NOTE: you should definitely check out those links a couple sentences back… Justin just LOVES it when people watch those videos.
after the Rebel Race mud run last spring
Getting him to work out with me has been a little harder to make happen on the regular (because I am awesome, energetic and inspiring, and he likes playing with the chickens and watching the History Channel). Needless to say, we have VERY different fitness styles and tastes. But something pretty sweet happens every time I squeeze myself into some fresh neon spandex and he throws on his Vision Streetwear “running” hat and aviators.
We call it #FitRomance…
TOP 5 BENEFITS OF WORKING OUT WITH YOUR PARTNER:
1 – We already know the buddy system works when you’re trying to establish a good workout routine, but a buddy who has seen you naked has a LOT more to hold over your head. But seriously, being accountable to someone you spend so much time with makes it easier to stay on track and not cancel workout dates.
2 – This also applies to eating habits. When your “buddy” shares your fridge and your dinner table, you’re less likely to chow down on a plate of Buffalo wings in front of him/her and more likely to encourage each other to “just have the salad”.
3 – Sex is an incredibly intimate experience, but it’s not the only way to grow closer while getting sweaty. Struggling together towards an ultimately awesome goal can be a super powerful bonding experience. You will share pitfalls and triumphs alike, and that experience can give you even greater insight into what makes your partner tick.
4 – It’s so easy to work romance into your workout. Forget the run around the block – take in a hike with a romantic picnic lunch at the end instead. There are endless possibilities for turning the same old workout routine into a sexy date night (or afternoon). Lots of fun can be had in the privacy of the forest or on the beach after dark – not that we know anything about that.
5 – Working out produces hormones that not only make you happier, but that can also make you feel sexier. Work out with a partner and that increased level in pleasure hormones won’t go to waste! Add to that the increased stamina and endurance you’ll build as you become fitter, and it’s a win-win-WIN situation all around.
