When I was growing up – without the internet, without cable television – I only had one chance each year to see The Wizard of Oz on television, and it was a BIG event. To this day, I love everything about that movie (but I’m still a little scared of the flying monkeys… total creepytown.)
Like Dorothy, I came from humble beginnings. We were both precocious dreamers who longed for adventure. I could relate to her. And as I’m writing this, I’m wondering if my love for everything shiny and fluorescent started with my love for the technicolor land over the rainbow…
Chicago was my own personal OZ last weekend.
ahhhh, neon… be still my heart.
Right now I’m sitting in my family room, surrounded by my still-unpacked bags from my trip to Chicago for the second #FashionablyFit Lady Foot Locker event. You’ve probably read/heard me say at least a dozen times that I feel completely out of place in the world of fashion. But after spending the last two weekends with Bianca of MizzFit.com, Hallie of CoralsandCognacs.com and Ashley of PursuitofShoes.com, I’m assured that it’s personal STYLE that really matters. And with the help of the fabulous people at Lady Foot Locker, I feel like I have so many amazing options to express my point-of-view on fitness fashion and style (and at reasonable prices that make it easy to stock up).
I think I squealed out loud when I saw my workout look…
… and I ABSOLUTELY died when I saw my neon yellow Nikes.
This weekend was so much fun because we all got TWO amazing looks to rock – one for our two fitness classes that I would be leading and one for the fashion show portion of the event. Whoever says that cute clothes don’t make a difference has CLEARLY never owned a pair of neon yellow Nikes. I couldn’t help myself from jumping and dancing all over my hotel room as soon as I put them on, and they ELECTRIFIED my workouts on Saturday.
Adrienne Bailon taking my class… I’m still pinching myself.
I don’t think I could ever get tired of fitness fashion. Everything Lady Foot Locker is showing this season is so fun and bright, and the electric colors definitely stir up energy and motivate me to move. Check out clips of the workout and get a special treat from Adrienne!

Like Dorothy, when I was a little girl I dreamed of a magical place far far away from everything I knew. Today, I’m having a blast doing what I love – sharing fitness with people all over the world, traveling to new places and meeting new friends. And like the people of Oz, I’m doing it in COLOR!
I could get used to this girlie-girl stuff.
Could you just DIE over those Nike sweats?!
Thank you to Glam Media and Lady Foot Locker for these two incredible weekends. Everyone involved in these events were so friendly and helpful, and I feel like I’ve made so many new friends.
