As you all know, one of the perks of having a blog that people visit from time to time is getting to try out some pretty cool products. Ok, a lot of the stuff I find in my PO Box is pretty lame, but you’ll never see any of it on my blog… nope, I won’t talk about a crappy product.

The drawback of only talking about stuff I like is that I can sometimes come off sounding like a commercial. I assure you that no one can make me like something that I don’t. Just ask Mr. Borucki how many times he’s tried to convince me that I like sleeping outdoors.
So here’s the deal – this is not a commercial, but it’s about to get super weird like a love-fest up in here. A few weeks ago, I got a Waterpik Complete Care Water Flosser and Sonic Toothbrush for myself and a Waterpik Water Flosser For Kids for Winona, Calvin and Jack to try out. I am not exaggerating when I say that there has not been a SINGLE DAY since I started using it that I haven’t talked about how crazy clean my teeth look and feel. I mean, my family is literally sick of hearing me sing the praises of what I consider to be the most important piece of technology in my life behind my iPhone (and you all know by now how I attached I am to my phone… hello, instagram!!).
nine-year-old Jack wasn’t convinced of the awesomeness… I’ll turn him!!
I’ve taken my sonic toothbrush on two business trips, flossed MANGO STRANDS right out of my teeth with the water flosser on more than one occasion, and I’m now using the water flosser EVERY NIGHT before bed. The other night, I got POPCORN KERNEL pieces out of my gums with the flosser. You know what I’m talking about – those little kernel pieces that wedge themselves under your gums and drive you insane for DAYS. They’re no match for my Waterpik.
The kids and I have never had so much fun with oral hygiene, and I definitely had no idea how lacking our old toothbrushes were – even the battery-powered ones that “spin” and vibrate. Our teeth feel just as clean as they do when we go to the dentist. It’s like little Doozers from Fraggle Rock crawled inside my mouth and hammered away all the icky. I will never brush without using my water flosser again. I know, I’m bordering on crazy here, but it’s true!!
But here’s the absolute best part of it all… THE KIDS ARE FLOSSING! I imagine that somewhere in some adorable little house with a picket fence and a perfectly manicured lawn that there’s a mom who gets her kids to brush and floss after every meal. That is NOT my house and my kids are (let’s put this nicely) less than particular about caring for their teeth. Since the three older ones got their little grubbies on the water flosser, their teeth are not only CLEAN, but they’re WHITER! For the first time, I’m actually not embarrassed excited to take them to the dentist. And for the VERY FIRST TIME EVER, they’re brushing and flossing without being told. (Am I using a lot of caps in this post? I’m probably just amped from my last brushing session 30 minutes ago.)
I love wide angle lenses & my teenager’s white teeth!!
(Winona is going to murder me for this one…)
On a serious note, I found Waterpik at the perfect time. Calvin’s dentist just told us he needs braces, and I was super stressed out about him not taking care of his teeth after he gets them put on. The water flosser for kids is 3x more effective that flossing (a billion times for my kids who DON’T FLOSS AT ALL) and makes it so easy for kids to keep their teeth clean, so I won’t have to worry about him keeping his braces clear of food (and all the candy that he sneaks). Yes, Calvin, I find the empty wrappers you hide behind your bed. NOTHING gets by Ninja Mom. (I probably just jinxed myself, didn’t I?)
Somewhere under that mop is twelve-year-old Calvin flossing voluntarily.
So that’s all. I’m in love with my toothbrush. Saying that publicly is kind of weird, but I don’t care. I feel like I’m helping people… like I’m doing a public service by spreading the love. I convinced my mom to get her own, so now I’m just going to sit back and wait for my thank you gift. For those of you who aren’t on my holiday gift list, here’s a coupon to get your own Waterpik Water Flosser for Kids (if you’re a big kid, get a coupon for the Complete Care system by clicking here): Save $10 when you “Like” Water Pik on Facebook. If you have any questions about my Waterpik or any general health & fitness randomness, post in the comments below… you KNOW I can blah, blah, blah for days.
