This is my mother and father, Anne and Gary Peterson, on their wedding day, August 11, 1973. They both looked so great… my mother made the dresses for her bridesmaids and herself, and my dad’s suit is just too awesome. They’re no longer married, but they remain great friends. I’ll have to be sure to get a shot of them together at the wedding for a “35-years-later” side by side.
I think it’s really cool when a wedding portrait captures the era like this one. My mom still looks like a flower child of the ’60s and my dad looks so handsome in his blue suit. My mother’s brother, Jude, photographed the wedding for them and all the photos had a real photojournalistic feel to them that is so common today but wasn’t the norm back then. Now I’m inspired to go digging around at my mom’s house for the rest of the wedding pics and scan them for my blog!
