What a crazy month September was! Since announcing our engagement, we’ve been scrambling around the clock to get ready for our big day that is fast approaching.
The UPS man has been making almost daily visits to my house as all the little elements of the wedding are arriving. Thank goodness for the internet… there’s no way I’d be able to plan this without doing most of it late at night after the kids are in bed. We found the venue, booked a DJ, found a band, bought my dress, and got just about everything else online so far. And communicating via email with all the vendors makes life so much easier as well.
In preparing our programs, invitations, and vows, we’ve been able to tap into an endless wealth of resources and helpful websites… my favorite is StyleMePretty.com, a wedding blog full of phenomenal DIY projects and pictures of real weddings that inspire the imagination. It’s also very important to us that this wedding is anything but cookie-cutter, and we’ve found so many beautiful and one-of-a-kind details at Etsy.com, a website that showcases the shops of artists and craftsmen who make handmade goods for sale.
We’ve been busy working very hard on original designs for our ceremony programs, table cards, favors, thank yous, and centerpieces. My mother has done such a beautiful job on the design for the centerpieces, and I can’t wait for you all to see them! They really convey the theme of a rustic wedding while still looking rich and elegant, like an arrangement you would find on a medieval royal wedding table. We had so much fun designing our invitations {printed and assembled by the wonderful folks at Scaredy Kat, 5th Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn}, that we wanted to continue that effort throughout the rest of the wedding… we want this wedding to look like “us” and we can’t help but to put our “stamp” on everything. You all know how much Justin loves making new “Snake and Camera” merch {btw, the new t-shirts are in… email him if you want one – they’re awesome!}
This is all just so exciting and we know the big day we’ll be here before we know it. The invitation will be going out in the next month, and then the real fun begins… RSVPs, seating charts, making arrangements for all the fun for the wedding weekend.
Hopefully we’ll continue to stay busy with work so we can keep funding all of our big ideas :)
Here’s a shot from a corporate event we worked last night:
Until next time…
