Check “something old” off the list! After searching tirelessly online for a faux fur wrap to wear for the wedding, I remembered that my mother had some old furs that belonged to my grandmother, Florence Schlimm Dippold. I never had the pleasure of meeting my mother’s mother because she passed away shortly after I was born, but I do know that she was an incredibly strong and intelligent women with impeccable style and taste. She wore beautiful hats and clothes and was meticulous with her things, having her monogram or name embroidered on her clothes and bags. My grandfather was the president of the Daily Press, the St. Marys, PA newspaper, so they were well-known in the small city, with my grandmother always looking the part.
Here are some pics of the capelet and its embroidered garment bag… I still have to have it cleaned and glazed, so it will be restored to its original beauty. {Don’t worry, my animal loving friends. I would never buy real fur.}
